Following close on the heels of #FairTuesday, Emma stars in fair trade fashion brand Raven + Lily’s Holiday Gift Guide. She appears wearing the Desta: Antique Dangle Earrings ($48). Made with melted bullet casings and recycled brass, silver, and copper, the earrings feature mini balls that jingle.
Emma styled the look with a vintage Henri Bendel dress that she bought secondhand for $10 at a local Housing Works thrift store. As part of her participation, Emma’s readers can enter code “RALCLASSICSTYLE” at checkout, until December 3rd, and you can get 25% off your purchase on Ravenandlily.com.

DownEast Magazine features Emma’s thoughts on Maine-inspired fashion in their November 2012 issue. In “Maine as Fashion Muse” on pages 22-24, the Magazine of Maine seeks Emma’s expertise on why national clothing lines look to Maine, which also happens to be her home state, for inspiration. Read an excerpt, below.
“Maine represents authenticity and craftsmanship,” offers Emma Grady, a New York-based fashion writer and editor specializing in classic and timeless fashion and the founder of the style Web site, PastFashionFuture.com.
“I find that brands, especially the major ones, need to create a story behind the inspiration for each collection because it’s marketable and it relates well to the consumer. Maine, because of its beautiful coastline, is a good source for that.”

Fashioning Change called upon Emma’s style expertise for a feature look currently featured on their site. Comprised of wardrobe staples that can be worn year-round, Emma selected pieces that won’t be going “out of season” any time soon.
Emma loves pairing unexpected patterns and prints like a black and white pleated gingham skirt with camouflage ballet flats that juxtapose a feminine style and a masculine print. Worn together, the look is classic, yet on-trend, and ideal for a hot summer day.
